Tapani Tolonen took up the position of Director of Steveco’s Kotka and Helsinki container terminals on 1 December 2023. Previously, among other roles, he has worked for VR for 10 years in various positions, the most recent of which was his 4.5-year post as regional manager for Southeast Finland. He has an MSc degree in industrial engineering.

Steveco is a familiar place for Tolonen from his youth, as he worked as a dockworker in Kotka after the army. “It was a big thing at the time, and it still is. Steveco is a major employer, and the task is interesting for a native of Kotka,” Tolonen says.

In his new position, he will be responsible for the management of the container terminal unit, running its operations and ensuring the profitability of the terminal. Particular attention is paid to the customer perspective and the excellent performance of work for customers.

“I look forward to working with customers. My work experience is with service companies, so I understand the importance of working with customers. They must be taken very good care of.”
