Transloading is an alternative to direct container transport

In transit transport, transloading of products from a container directly onto a truck or rail wagon either directly or via a warehouse has decreased considerably in the past 5 years. Correspondingly, the proportion of direct container carriage has increased in transit traffic. Despite this trend, transloading still belongs to the service range of Steveco International Logistics as an alternative to direct container carriage.

Steveco International Logistics offers transloading services in Finland in Kotka, Helsinki, Hamina, Lappeenranta and Kouvola. Temperature-controlled warehouses are also available to our customers. The products can be transloaded either directly onto a truck or rail wagon, or transferred to a warehouse to await on-carriage.

Navirail trusts Steveco

One of Steveco’s new customers at the Vuosaari Harbour is the Estonian transport firm Navirail. The first two ship services arrived in Steveco’s quay on Monday 15 June.
Navirail’s ship runs twice a day between the Muuga Harbour in Tallinn and the Vuosaari Harbour in Helsinki. The voyage between the harbours of Vuosaari and Muuga only takes 3 hours.

The assets of the Navirail link comprise not only speed but also security: protection of cargo on the upper deck of the M/S Ahtela during the voyage has been given specific attention. All vehicles and trailers are photographed from four directions within Navirail’s area so as to avoid unclear situations in the event of damage.

In Estonia, the cargo carried across the Gulf of Finland continues from the Muuga Harbour to other parts of Northern Europe by road along Via Baltica.
